Dave Zitting

President and Chief Executive Officer

One of PRMI’s founding partners, Dave Zitting is an innovative leader with 30 years of mortgage-banking experience. Early on in his career Dave worked in mortgage operations, and quickly moved into sales as a Mortgage Loan Originator. He went on to help form Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. (PRMI) in 1998. PRMI is a national retail mortgage-banking company. PRMI enjoys agency seller-servicer status with Fannie, Freddie and Ginnie, industry top counter-party aggregates and direct Wall Street relationships. 

As CEO, Dave is responsible for providing leadership and direction in all areas and complexities of PRMI, with an emphasis on determining and executing PRMI’s strategic direction. Dave is involved in multiple areas of MBA, including the Board of Directors, various MBA taskforces and Vice Chair of RESBOG. Dave obtained his MBA Certified Mortgage Banker status in 2015. 

Dave currently resides in Bountiful, Utah with his wife Tracy and their two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, sports, aviation, skiing, fly fishing and technology. 

Steve Chapman

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Steve has been with PRMI as Chief Financial Officer since the company started in 1998. With over 20 years of experience in the banking arena, he has been instrumental in ensuring the companies continued financial health. As CFO, Steve oversees and directs the company’s accounting and financial structure and operations.

In addition to his responsibilities as CFO, Steve has been a driving force behind the development and implementation of PRMI Giving Network – a company-wide charitable initiative dedicated to the improvement of local and global communities through nutrition, service and education. Steve’s commitment to the Giving Network mission springs from his desire to build and fortify lasting relationships between PRMI colleagues, customers and community partners by engaging in acts of service.

Originally, from Los Angeles, CA, Steve now resides in Highland, Utah with his wife and three children. When he isn’t working, he enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.

Tom George

Executive Vice President and Chief Production Officer

As Executive Vice President and Chief Production Officer, Tom’s deep understanding of the company’s operations is unparalleled. In this capacity, he oversees all areas of day-to-day production at PRMI and the operations of its affiliates to ensure safe business practices and continued profitability.

Joining the company at its inception in 1998, Tom worked as a Loan Originator and as the Manager and Vice President of Business Development before being promoted to Executive Vice President & Chief Operations Officer, and most recently to Executive Vice President & Chief Production Officer.

Prior to PRMI, he was the Vice President/Coordinator for Associated Charter Catalog and the National Jewelers Alliance, where he supervised over 500 Independent Jewelers and the corporate offices.

Tom is an alumni of the University of Utah in Public Relations & Advertising, Utah Principal Lending Manager License, Utah Licensed Loan Originator Certificate, Continuing Education State Law Certificate, HUD Approved Fair Lending Certificate and Employment Law Certification.

Tom and his wife, Kelley, have three sons, three grandsons and a granddaughter. He is passionate about giving back to the community, and regularly looks for opportunities to serve others. In his spare time, Tom enjoys attending all types of sporting events and supporting his favorite Utah teams including the U of U Utes, the Weber State Wildcats, (and yes from time to time the BYU Cougars), the Utah Jazz and the Salt Lake Bees. Tom’s even been known to travel to spring training. Above all, he is happiest when he gets to enjoy these activities with his family both at home and on the road.

Burton Embry

Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)

H. Burton Embry is the Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. Burton is responsible for the Company’s risk, regulatory and compliance management programs.

Burton has more than 40 years of experience in the financial and mortgage banking industry with more than 35 of those years focusing on mortgage compliance and quality assurance matters. He has become a nationally recognized compliance leader in the mortgage industry, having been a successful regulatory compliance executive for industry leading mortgage lending companies such as GE Capital Mortgage, Banc One Financial Services, NationsCredit and Franklin American Mortgage Company.

Burton is the president and a member of the board of directors of the Mortgage Compliance Professionals Association of America and is a member of the Mortgage Compliance Magazine Advisory Board. Burton is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance Committee where he formerly served as the Chair of the Regulatory Compliance Subcommittee (2013-2015). He is an active member of the State Legislative and Regulatory Committee and the Quality Assurance subcommittee of the Mortgage Bankers Association and the Mortgage Quality & Compliance Committee of the California Mortgage Bankers Association.

Burton often speaks at meetings and conferences about industry issues related to loan officer compensation, mortgage loan originator licensing and state and CFPB examination practices and developments as well as other general compliance matters. He has published articles in industry publications such as National Mortgage News, Scotsman Guide and National Mortgage Professional Magazine.

Chris Jones

President, Retail

Chris joined PRMI in 2008 following an 11-year career with GE Capital. As President of Retail Lending, Chris leads all aspects of the organization’s retail production channel including oversight of its branch locations nationwide, growth planning and execution, strategy identification and implementation and company communication and engagement.

During his professional career, Chris has held positions in Lean Six Sigma Management, Finance Management, Management Consulting and Executive Leadership, utilizing this experience to provide special focus on business growth, operational excellence, process innovation and financial analysis to optimize business performance for both PRMI and its Branch Partners.

Chris has a degree in Finance from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Mr. Jones now resides in Draper, Utah with his wife, Kristin, with whom he has three children. Outside of work, Chris’ interests include tennis, any activity on or in the water and playing great golf courses.

Ruth Green

Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer

As Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Ruth is responsible for the day-to-day operations at PRMI where she provides direction and oversight for Loan Origination, Fulfillment and Servicing. Her focus is on improving the quality of service and products throughout the organization through effective management, communication and implementation of new technologies.

Ruth has added her talents to PRMI for more than 19 years. She has held numerous positions in the company including Underwriter, Training Manager and Vice President of Business Relations. Green joined the company with five years of experience in the mortgage industry as a Loan Originator and Processor.

Mrs. Green currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband, Pat, and four children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, skiing and backpacking.

A.J. Swope

Executive Vice President of Secondary Marketing

As Executive Vice President of Secondary Marketing, A.J. works with a team of talented individuals that are responsible for overseeing program administration, pipeline management and business technology strategy. His focus is on quality data, cost reduction, customer focus and profit enhancement for our partners.

With over 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, including the last 10 years at PRMI, A.J. spent two years in San Diego, California as a Product Manager for the DataTrac Program and Pricing suite at Del Mar Database. He has also worked as an Assistant Secondary Manager at New Century Mortgage, a Pricing Specialist at Crossland Mortgage Corp., the Secondary Marketing Supervisor at FirstPlus Freedom Mortgage and a Secondary Marketing Analyst at CMG Funding Corporation.

Mr. Swope currently resides in Lehi, Utah with his wife, Laurie, and four children. He enjoys photography, being outdoors, hunting and fly fishing.

Darryl Lee

Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer

Darryl represented PRMI as its outside General Counsel for more than 15 years while a partner with the law firms of Wood Jenkins and Kirton McConkie. After returning from a service opportunity in Italy, Darryl joined PRMI in April 2015 as its Senior Vice President and General Counsel to create a legal department within the company. In 2018, Darryl was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer.

As PRMI’s Chief Legal Officer, Darryl manages the company’s litigation, advises all levels of management regarding legal questions and identifies proactive approaches to minimize risk. Darryl reviews contracts and assists senior management in negotiating key contracts, leases and other agreements. In addition, Darryl and his team manage PRMI’s portfolio of real estate leases throughout the country. He also oversees PRMI’s Human Resources operations.

Prior to joining PRMI, Darryl practiced law for 35 years in major law firms in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Salt Lake City. He also served as Associate General Counsel for Thiokol Corporation and General Counsel for its Space Operations. During his time with Thiokol, Darryl managed all the legal fallout from the 1986 Challenger Space Shuttle disaster.

Darryl holds a BA in English from Brigham Young University and a Juris Doctor degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. He also earned an MBA from the University of Utah.

Originally from Concord, California, Darryl now resides in North Salt Lake with his wife, Bonnie. He has five children, all married, and sixteen grandchildren. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, tennis, cooking and live theater.

Mathew Whitebrook

Senior Vice President of Capital Markets

As Senior Vice President of Capital Markets, Mathew leverages his talents to develop, monitor and maintain servicing strategy for PRMI. With 18 years of experience working in mortgage finance, his breadth of knowledge and extensive understanding of capital markets allow him to confidently manage the suite of PRMI products, while mitigating risk and managing margin expectations for the company.

Having joined the organization in 2008, one of Mathew’s primary accomplishments was creating the Capital Markets division at PRMI. Prior to his current role, he worked in San Diego, California as a Senior Hedge Analyst and Bulk Sales Coordinator for Capital Markets at Home Savings of America and a Senior Analyst for Capital Markets at SCME Mortgage Bankers, Inc.

Mathew currently resides in Saratoga Springs, Utah with his wife, Kristin, and two children. He enjoys spending time adventuring in the outdoors, traveling and eating delicious food – especially when he grills it himself.
